Spartans have "it"
To be a champion, you need to be tested, and more importantly, survive those tests. The Maine-Endwell Spartans are four wins away from their fourth straight state title and after Saturday's Section IV Semifinal, the Spartans have proved they can win close games. M-E needed every last effort to hold off Susquehanna Valley in a 13-6 win in the bitter cold.
Last year, the Spartans went relatively untested all year, their closes margin of victory, 35-15 in the Section Finals. That is, until they survived with a one point win over Cazenovia in the regionals and a one point, come from behind win in the state finals against Schalmont. This year, they've gotten at least one of those nailbiters out of the way, proving most importantly to themselves that they have what it takes.
