Blue Devils have their Eyes on the Tigers

With a big week one win over JC behind them, the Chenango Forks Blue Devils have a tough road ahead.  While the biggest game on the schedule may not come until Week 6 against Maine-Endwell, week 2 is no walk in the park.  The reigning Section IV Class D Champs area heading East to take on the Blue Devils.  Based on reputation alone this is a great match-up on paper, but consider that a year ago in week 2, the Tigers handed the Blue Devils their only loss of the season, a 7-0 nail biter at Tioga.

While those on the team last year would like to exact revenge on Tioga, the Blue Devils know they can't get ahead of themselves and have to stay within their game.  As for Head Coach Dave Hogan, he's aware of the prestige of his opponent's program but as far as he's concerned to be the best, you have to beat the best.

4th and Goal Week One: Play of the Week and Hit of the Week

Here is the best play and the biggest hit from Week One of the High School Football Season in Section IV on our show 4th and Goal.

4th & Goal Game of the Week: Week 1 - Maine-Endwell @ Union-Endicott

Friday night's schedule brought together two of the biggest and best programs in Section IV.  Maine-Endwell travelling to Union-Endicott as both teams look to overcome big and talented graduating classes and prove to the rest of the Section that they are for real.  The Spartans took a while to get things going after a 2-0 deficit in the first thanks to a botched snap on a punt, but they quickly put things out of hand en route to a 34-8 Week 1 win.

Fox 40 Goes to Camp: Little Red, Big Heart

One year ago the Ithaca Little Red struggled through an 0-9 season.  Coming from an athlete that was not on a lot of winning teams, believe me when I say it takes a toll on you mentally and physically.  But the Little Red are back and better than ever gearing up for the 2014 season with optimism in their eyes.  Second year Head Coach Kelly Gordon has learned from last year's experience and is looking to win each and every game, but first and foremost, focus on the basics of football.  Playing fundamentally sound in sports is key to success, and it's not the key for the Ithaca Little Red.

Ithaca opens the season at home on Friday against the Chenango Valley Warriors.

Fox 40 Goes to Camp: Mud-be-Gone

When thinking of Sidney Warriors football, the image of mud covered players who's team colors and uniform numbers are indistinguishable.  The Sidney "Mud Bowl" as it affectionately became known would look more brown than green after the first quarter, especially on a rainy and wet Friday night.  But those days are a thing of the past as the Warriors will open the season in a brand new stadium.

The new complex not only features a synthetic turf field which will allow coaches to breathe a sigh of relief, not to mention the ease that parents will have in trying to keep the whites white in the wash!  It also features a new video scoreboard.

For the seniors this year is shaping up to be a year to remember, not only for the new stadium, but for the chance to get the Sidney program back to the days of the 2005 State Champs.  While this year's team is relatively young and inexperienced, this year's seniors are looking to help improve on last year's 4-3 regular season, while at the same time teaching the younger students for the future.

The Warriors break in their new stadium in week one as they host Unatego and try to revenge a 32-30 loss in week two of last year.

Fox 40 Goes to Camp: Family Matters

The 2013 season was not all that kind to the Windsor Black Knights.  In 2014, they're looking to improve from last year's 3-6 (1-5) record which put them second to last in Class B.  As the Trojans head into the final week of camp, it's becoming clear that this year's squad is a close tight knit group that is willing to go the extra mile for each other to accomplish their goals.

The Black Knights face off against the Greene Trojans on the road to start the season.

Fox 40 Goes to Camp: Harpursville

5 days until the high school football season begins and for Harpursville, the hornets are still working hard because they have added players from Afton to the roster.

The 7-2 team from 2013 just got more depth on the roster and the team is still working on the chemistry with just a few days left. Harpursville won their first five games of the season last year and they continue to work on team speed as they try to sneak by a state title contender in Tioga this season.

The hornets first game is on the road at Waverly this week as they continue to make an impact in class D, Section VI.
