State Semifinals moved to Syracuse
The Road to Syracuse will start a week early for Section IV Football
teams eyeing a State Title. Friday morning the NYSPHSAA Executive
Committee met to discuss several topics for next year. One of the items
on the agenda was the location of the football state semifinals. For
the last several years the West Semis have been held at Rochester's
Sahlen's Stadium, but this fall will be relocated to Cicero-North
Syracuse.
The State Finals will still be at the Carrier Dome the following weekend. Travel wise, this is a welcome change for Section IV players and coaches (as well as members of the local media). Any team with a shot at a state title will now be making trips to Syracuse in consecutive weeks.
