Last season, it took until Week 7 for the long awaited match up of defending state champions to thrill a sold out crowd. This year, once again defending state champs, Maine-Endwell and Chenango Forks will face off in Week 2. Both teams are coming off massive wins, M-E 54-7 over Corning, Forks 55-8 over Oneonta.
While these teams remain relatively untested compared to their matchup a year ago, the Spartans are excited for another go around.
"It was a fun game last year, should be fun game this year, they're a good team, defending state champs. Should be a good game," said M-E QB/DB Kyle Balmer.
"It's going to be a lot fun. Just like last year I think it's great for the area it's great for football it's great for us. These guys are going to get up for it after something like this reaching this milestone and then knowing that you can't get down because you have to go against the two time defending state champions," said M-E Head Coach Matt Gallagher.
M-E won last year's battle at home. This year, Forks plays host and looks to turn the tables on Saturday at 1:00.
